Description
Queen Street was laid out around 1838 as a small street approximately 70 yards long, terminating at the churchyard on its north side. The north side of the street, comprising numbers 2 to 10 (even), and the south side, numbers 1 to 9 (odd), were built as terraces. The buildings are constructed of Suffolk brick with slate roofs. Numbers 1 and 2 are two storeys high with three windows each, featuring sash windows with glazing bars. Numbers 3 and 5, and 4 and 6, are three storeys high with a five-window range, also with sash windows and glazing bars. Numbers 8 and 10, and 7 and 9, are similarly three storeys high but with a four-window range, again displaying sash windows with glazing bars. Numbers 7 and 8 feature a rounded corner where the end block projects into the street. All doorways are recessed and have small, flat stone heads. Number 2 has been rebuilt for commercial use, but the rebuilding maintains the appearance and materials of the surrounding buildings. The listed buildings in Queen Street form a group with numbers 67 to 77 (odd) on High Street.
