Description

These are two buildings, number 86 and 88, located on the north-east side of High Street. The buildings likely date from the 17th century, originally constructed with a timber frame and plaster, and having tiled roofs. In the late 18th century, a red brick facade was added. This brickwork features a toothed eaves band. The building has a five-window front, with flush frame sash windows, now containing only central glazing bars. The ground floor contains early 19th century shop fronts and a central entrance within a wooden case featuring pilasters and a continuous entablature. The building is included on the heritage register for group value, alongside numbers 72 to 88 (even) and the King's Head Inn.
