Description
Old Forge Cottage is the cross wing of a medieval timber-framed and plastered hall house, with a small section of the hall block still visible at the south end. It was altered in the 16th to 17th centuries and has two storeys. The former cross wing features a jettied front supported by curved brackets. The exposed timber-framing on the north side is of 14th century style and may have been part of an earlier building. There are two window ranges, with 20th century casements featuring glazing bars on the upper storey and leaded lights on the ground storey. A central doorway is present. The roof is thatched, while the small section of the earlier hall block has a tiled roof and exposed studding on the upper storey.
