Description
Poplars Farmhouse is a fine 15th-century timber-framed building that has been restored, featuring exposed timber-framing and plaster infill. The roof is thatched, with a modern ridge chimney stack and an end stack. The house has two storeys and attics, with the upper storey jettied across the entire west front, supported by exposed joists, a finely carved bressumer, and curved brackets. The upper storey is also jettied at the south end. An extension at the north end is unjettied but also displays exposed timber-framing. There are several original windows that have been restored, although some are blocked at the north end. The windows are generally modern mullioned and transomed metal casements with leaded lights. A moat surrounds the west and south sides of the property.
