KERSEY KERSEY TYE Bridges Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Mid/late C16 with C17 and C18 alterations. Colourwashed rendered timber-frame with composition tile roof and brick projecting and end stacks. Plan of main range and crosswing. Single storey and attic to former, 2 storeys to latter. Main range has door and 3 casements and 2-1ight dormer over, with 2 2-1ight casements to crosswing. Rear has door, 2-1ight casement and 2-1ight dormer to main range and French window and 2/2 sash to crosswing. INTERIOR. Cross wing has 2 bays of close-studded framing with jowled posts and sunk quadrant-moulded bridging beam and chamfered joists. Similarly moulded mid rails. First floor has deep chamfered tie beam and blocked windows with diamond mullions. Roof with coupled rafters, collars and curved windbraces. Projecting stack has had rebuilding and fireplace narrowed but may incorporate original bricks. Main range has plank doors, C18 roof and central rooms with simple bridging beams but kitchen at end has chamfered bridging beam and joists.
