Description

The Chapel of St James, built around 1250, is a small flint building with a thatched roof, located on Kersey Road. It is believed to have belonged to the monastery that was situated where the present farmhouse now stands. The chapel has been restored and was once used as a barn. It features lancet windows and a stone arched doorway. Inside, there is a piscina with two stoops. The roof is constructed with heavy rafters, braced collars, a moulded wall plate, and cambered tie beams. The chapel is also designated as a scheduled ancient monument.
