Description
The Chapel at Melford Place is the only remaining part of Melford Place, which was originally the seat of the Martyn family. The original house is said to have been demolished at the beginning of the 19th century and replaced by another house that was burnt down in 1967. The chapel, which dates back to the 14th century, features a waggon roof, a panelled ceiling, and a carved cornice. It is now part of the new house built on the site. The exterior has been much altered; it is gabled on the street front and faced in cement colour-wash. There is one tall mullioned and transomed lattice leaded window with red brick dressings and a hood mould. The roof is tiled.
