Description

7-9 Water Street is a large 15th-century timber-framed and plastered building located in Lavenham. It features cross wings at both the east and west ends, with extensions projecting eastwards from the east cross wing and westwards from the west cross wing. The roof is tiled. The building is two storeys high. The west cross wing has a jettied upper storey. The central part (No. 8) was formerly a forge and blacksmith’s shop and now includes a small 19th-century shop window. Most windows are casements, although one double-hung sash window with glazing bars is located on the ground storey of the west cross wing. The interior retains original features.
