Description

This is a barn located approximately 30 metres south-west of Jermyns Farmhouse, dating from the 16th or 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and weatherboarding, and features a 19th-century brick plinth. The barn has a thatched roof, which was stripped during the time of re-survey, hipped at the north end and gabled at the south end. It consists of five bays and includes jowled storey posts, closely set studs with a curved wall, braces at the corners, and braced canted tie beams. The roof structure is supported by arch-braced side purlins, which are pegged at the ridge, with intermittent collars.
