Description

A 15th/16th century hall house situated on Norwich Road. The building is timber-framed and largely plastered, with thatched roofs featuring gabled ends, the eastern end being taller. A substantial brick chimney stack is located at the junction of the house. The western end, number 60A, is two storeys high and was originally an open hall, later floored in the 16th or 17th century. The interior boasts a roll-moulded beam on similarly moulded posts, two original arched doorways, and arched braces supporting the tiebeams in the roof. The eastern end, number 60, is two storeys high with an attic. The roof exhibits wind braces, and a chamfered ceiling beam features carved stops. Most windows are from the 19th century, although number 60A has blocked mullion windows.
