Description

These are two early 19th-century houses, numbered 33 and 35, Mere Street. They are plastered and have a slate roof, with an unusual octagonal attic. The buildings form a composition of considerable interest. They are wing houses, each with a pedimented front, and two windows on each floor. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars. Number 33 features a display window at ground floor level and an arched entrance with a radial bar fanlight. Number 34 has splay bay windows on both the ground and first floors, a cast-iron balustraded balcony above, and arched doorways on either side of the ground floor, with a shop and central entrance in the bay. Numbers 25 to 27 Mere Street form a visual group with numbers 33 to 35.
