Description
Nos 44 and 45 on Mere Street date from around 1800 and are two-storey buildings featuring four windows. They are constructed of red brick with gauged flat arches and have painted flush frame sash windows with remaining glazing bars on the first floor. On the ground floor, there is a sash window on the left that now has central glazing bars only, alongside a six-panel door that has an enriched wood case with pilasters and a dentil pediment. To the right, there is a mid-19th century wood shop front with a central entrance and panelled pilasters. The roofs are covered with slates. Inside, the buildings have six-panel doors and a close string staircase with column newels. Nos 41 to 54, which are consecutive, form a group with these properties.
