Description

Caistor Hall is a house that has been converted into a hotel and country club, dating from around 1805. It is constructed of gault brick and features a hipped roof covered with black glazed pantiles. The building is L-shaped, with the principal facade facing west, consisting of seven bays and two storeys. The right side has three older bays with modillions at the eaves, while the left side has four slightly later bays that are set back. The windows are recessed sashes with glazing bars and flat arches, with dummy sashes in the first bay and the ground floor of the seventh bay. The sixth bay features a segmental fronted portico with a flat roof supported by two pairs of fluted columns adorned with acanthus leaf necking, leading to a moulded reeded doorway with a patera and a wide double-leaved door.

The south facade has five bays and two storeys, also with a hipped roof of black glazed pantiles. It includes sashes with glazing bars, flat arches, and fretwork canopies. To the right, there is a lower single storey range with four bays under a slate hipped roof, featuring sashes with glazing bars. The north facade has an addition on the left that is of no special interest.

Inside, there is a curved open string staircase with cast iron balusters and a wreathed mahogany handrail. A semi-circular headed stair window with intersecting glazing bars can be found, and the rooms on the south side have varied moulded ceiling surrounds and plaster friezes.
