Description

This is a c.1730 farmhouse built for a member of the Pettus family. It is constructed of colourwashed brick with pantiles and black glazed pantiles, and has a hipped roof with a platband. The main west-facing facade has three bays, with sash windows containing some 4x4 pane glazing bars, and a central doorway with a portico featuring Tuscan columns. The south-facing facade, of four bays, has similar fenestration and black glazed pantiles. Pantiles cover the rear roof. The house is the sole surviving building in the former parish of Markshall. Due to access limitations, the description is brief.
