Description

Hapton House is a 16th-century timber-frame house with a brick front dating to the 18th century. The rear of the house is plastered, and it has a steep, gable-ended tile roof. A brick chimney stack is located near the west end, featuring three octagonal flues with moulded bases. The front elevation has a symmetrical arrangement of 1:3:1 windows, with sash windows containing glazing bars. The end sashes have side lights. A central doorway is emphasized by a pilastered surround and a pedimented entablature, leading to a fielded panel door. A short, gabled wing extends from the rear, and a further three and four-light mullion windows with leaded panes are present at the rear and in the east end. Inside the hall, exposed timber framing and chamfered ceiling beams are visible, along with a wide arched fireplace.
