Description

Loddon House is a house dating from circa 1710, with later 18th-century additions. The core of the building is painted brick with stone dressings. It has a steep hipped slate roof with a dentilled eaves cornice. The house is two and three storeys high, with a 1:3:1 bay arrangement. The three-bay central section features a pediment and is three storeys high, and slightly projects with quoins, bands, and a keyblock. The left and right bays are two storeys high. Most windows are sash windows with glazing bars. A tall, round-headed sash window is located on the second floor of the central section. A good central doorway features wide fluted Corinthian pilasters and an entablature with a broken segmental pediment. Later 18th-century flanking wings, also of painted brick with hipped slate roofs and dentilled eaves cornices, each have two bays and are two or three storeys high. Sashes with glazing bars and keyblocks are present on the wings. Large round-headed archways, constructed of brick with pilasters and dentilled cornices, are situated far to the left and right, with the left-hand arch being blind. Brick chimney stacks are also present.
