Description
Farthing Green House, originally known as Bank House, is an 18th-century red brick house that now serves as council offices. The building features a low pitched slate roof with gable ends and overhanging eaves. It has brick string courses at the floor levels, with a moulded string course on the first floor, and brick pilasters. The house is three storeys tall and has five windows, which are sashes with glazing bars in exposed casings, while the second floor has smaller sashes. The central doorway is notable for its heavy voussoirs and keyblock, segmental pediment, and large panel doors. There is an early to mid-19th century red brick east wing that is two storeys high and has two sashes with glazing bars. Additionally, there is a large early 20th-century west wing, also in red brick, designed in a "Georgian" style.
