Description

This is a house, dating from circa 1850. The front facade is of gault brick, while the rear and side elevations are of colourwashed red brick. It has a hipped slate roof. The house is double-depth and five bays wide. The principal facade, facing south, is symmetrical, with pilaster strips at the corners. The central bay projects forward by approximately 10 centimetres. The windows are recessed sash windows with glazing bars, stone sills, and skewback flat arches. A later 19th-century porch has been added to the centre, constructed of rendered material with a parapet. It features curved angles with Tuscan pilasters and a four-panelled door within a semi-circular doorway, complete with a fanlight; sash windows are present to the returns. Two gault brick stacks are situated on the axis between bays 1 and 2, and bays 4 and 5. The side returns are of colourwashed brick, with openings featuring cambered arches. The right return has blank openings in the first bay, while the second bay has a 20th-century canted bay window with sash windows and glazing bars to the ground floor, and a sash window with glazing bars to the first floor. The left return includes French windows on the ground floor and a late 20th-century insertion to match the French window to the left, with a sash window above. The rear of the house contains various service ranges with recessed sash windows and glazing bars under cambered arches. Internally, a staircase features a mahogany wreathed handrail curving around a dogleg design, and stick balusters.
