Description
Nos. 7 and 9 Hardley Road is a farmhouse that has been divided into separate units. It is dated 1669, as indicated by iron figures on the east gable. The building features a rendered timber frame set between red brick gables and has a steeply-pitched roof covered with pantiles, including black glazed pantiles on the front elevation.
The structure is two storeys high with attics. The south facade has three windows that are irregularly spaced, with 20th-century two and three-light casements. There is an off-centre entrance door, also from the 20th century. The gables are shaped red brick, with T-shaped internal stacks. The western gable displays the initials RPS in iron letters.
The ground floor, first floor, and attic have casements, although some openings on the ground and first floors are blocked. The east gable features one attic and one ground floor casement, with other openings blocked and rendered over. The windows have segmental heads, and there are platbands at the first floor level that return on the north and south walls, as well as at the gable springing. Moulded brick eaves corbels are also present. Additionally, there is a later one-storey gabled extension at the rear.
