Description
The Post Office and Stores is a building from the 18th century that serves as a post office, shop, and dwelling. It features a rendered timber frame set on a masonry plinth, topped with pantiled roofs. The structure is double-pile with a lean-to extension on the west side. The south facade has two storeys, characterized by a pair of shallow gables and a lean-to roof on one side. A notable feature is the fine 19th-century shop front, which includes four-light mullioned windows on either side of a recessed entrance. The facade is enhanced by flanking pilasters with consoles, which support small pediments above an angled fascia. There is also a secondary shop window with four lights and mullions, along with casement windows that have glazing bars and bracketed drip-boards. The symmetrical east facade comprises three bays with similar window designs and a central front door. The building has axial stacks on each pile and is complemented by fine 19th-century metal railings with fleur de lys finials in front of the east facade.
