Description
The Church of St Margaret is a Grade I listed building located in Tivetshall St Margaret. The chancel dates from around 1300 and features an Easter Sepulchre. The west tower, constructed in the 14th century, is made of knapped flint and lacks buttresses. It has an embattled parapet with flushwork panelling and a stair turret partway up. The church includes Perpendicular windows and a south doorway adorned with shields in the spandrels. The south porch, built in the 15th century, retains its original roof. Inside, the nave roof is panelled with arched braces and bosses. A late 15th-century screen features a tympanum above displaying the painted Royal Arms of Elizabeth I on boards. The church also has several 15th-century bench ends with poppy-heads and mutilated figures on the arm-rests, as well as a simple octagonal font. The building is constructed from flint with stone dressings and has tiled roofs.
