Description
Willow Tree Farmhouse is a house that likely dates from the 16th century, with an early 17th-century wing and 20th-century extensions and alterations. It is timber-framed with colour-washed rendered walls and a concrete-tile roof featuring a brick ridge stack. The structure consists of a 2-bay hall range with a west wing and an eastern extension facing the road. It has two storeys with an attic in the wing, and the gable is oriented towards the street. The entrance is located on the right side within a lean-to porch, and there are various 20th-century casement windows. Similar casements and French windows are present on other elevations, along with a single-storey projection on the left side.
Inside, the timber-framing is preserved in the hall range and the parlour wing. The hall features jowled posts, heavy joists, and open fireplaces within a massive brick stack, with a winder stair set into the curved end. The ground floor room in the wing has a chamfered beam with ogee stops and similar joists, while the upper floor has plain joists. The roof has mostly been renewed in the 19th and 20th centuries.
