Description
The monument on Chapel Hill in Low Tharston was erected in 1897. It features a square stone pedestal topped with an urn, resting on a brick plinth. The inscription reads, "AD 1897 In this Jubilee year of HM Queen Victoria about 100 skeletons were discovered on this hill together with some Roman pottery." An oak tree has grown beside the monument, and its roots are causing the structure to topple.
