Description
The Lime Kiln at Low Tharston is likely from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed with brick and flint lining and set within an earth mound. The kiln features two entrances, one of which is partially blocked, with steps that have flint rubble retaining walls. These steps lead to brick archways that access underground chambers, which are brick-vaulted and have rubble walls below the spring of the arch. There are four chutes that lead to the brick-lined pot, which remains unfilled.
