Description

This building comprises numbers 17 and 18 St Nicholas Street, dating to the 17th century and subsequently altered. It incorporates the former number 16 and now functions as a bank, with shop premises incorporated as a bank extension since 1918. The building is two storeys and has an attic. It is faced in stucco, which has been painted. There are two casement dormers in the roof, covered with pantiles, some of which have been renewed. The first floor has two windows, with a clock situated centrally. The ground floor is largely modern, housing a bank entrance on the left, featuring consoles and an entablature which extends above the bank window on the right. Pilasters are also present. A two-window wing has been remodelled, set back on a splay and returning into Denmark Street. Numbers 17 to 23A form a group.
