Description
14, 14A, and 14B on St Nicholas Street is an early 18th-century building that stands two stories tall with an attic. The first floor features a flush frame sash window with glazing bars. The structure is made of painted brick and is topped with pantiles. It has an eaves cornice supported by coupled brackets and two pedimented sash dormers. The ground floor has a splayed angle with an entrance leading to projecting shops. There is a separate entrance on the right, which includes cast-iron columns and double doors to another projecting shop. The west side has a plastered return facing Shelfanger Road, which features a blank gable and a two-story wing on the left. This wing has a mullion transom casement window on the first floor, a flush frame sash window on the ground floor, and a door with a wooden case. The building occupies an important position and is part of a group with Nos 11 to 14B.
