Description

These are two buildings, numbers 1 and 2 Roydon Road, likely dating from the 18th century and subsequently altered. The eastern portion, number 1, is two stories high with two sash windows on the first floor, featuring glazing bars, and a matching blank recess. The exterior is stucco, lined and painted. A shop front with a central entrance is flanked by sunk-panelled pilasters and a wooden casing. A separate entrance to number 2 is on the left, with a four-panel door and a wooden casing. There is also an entrance at a splayed angle to the right, above which is a window. The roof is slate. The return face to Shelfanger Road has two windows and a ground floor wooden shop front with sunk-panelled pilasters. The western portion, number 2 (accessed from number 1), is also two stories high with three flush frame sash windows on each floor, featuring glazing bars. It is plastered and painted, with a brick plinth. A passage runs along the left side, with an oblong, louvred opening above a plain door. The buildings are set within a group that includes number 52 Shelfanger Road.
