Description
The Wilderness is a house dating from the 17th century, with later alterations. It is timber-framed, with the front and one gable clad in red brick, and the rest of the external walls rendered and whitewashed. The steeply-pitched roof is covered with black glazed pantiles. The house is rectangular in plan, with two storeys and attics. There is a range of three widely spaced windows on the front elevation, featuring 20th-century three-light casements. A glazed door is positioned off-centre to the left. Segmental arches top all ground-floor openings. An axial chimney stack is located off-centre to the right. The gables have attic casements. On the rear wall are 2-light and 5-light mullioned windows, while all other windows are 20th-century replacements. A pantiled wedge dormer is set into the rear roof slope.
