Description
Hollow Hill House is an early 19th-century house with later additions. It features gault brick facades and red brick at the rear, topped by a hipped slate roof. The house has two storeys and an L-shaped plan. The south-west facade has five bays with sash windows that have glazing bars, all set under gauged brick arches. The two left-hand sashes reach down to the ground floor, with the glazing bars removed, suggesting these two bays were likely added in the mid-19th century. To the right, there is a symmetrical three-bay arrangement with a central four-panel divided door and a semicircular portico supported by fluted Tuscan columns. The right-hand ground floor sash also extends to floor level, with glazing bars removed. The facade features plain brick pilasters and a wide eaves overhang. The south-east facade is symmetrical with three bays, including two added on the right-hand side. It has a segmental two-storey bow that is two windows wide, with ground floor openings extending to floor level. The house has three chimney stacks along the ridge line. The rear elevations are made of red brick and include sash and casement windows with segmental heads, along with a flat-roofed two-storey link in the angle.
