Description

Shingle Cottage is an early 16th century timber-frame house that has been rendered. It features a steep pantile roof with gabled ends and a brick chimney stack located at the center. The building has two storeys and includes three-light casement windows from the 19th and 20th centuries, along with a central panelled door positioned in front of the chimney stack. At the rear, there is a 19th century lean-to. Inside, there is a foyer with an exterior doorway in the lean-to, which includes a four-centred arch doorway adorned with roses in the spandrels and the original door. Another four-centred arch doorway is also present. Additionally, there is a three-light window with heavy moulded mullions on the wall facing into the lean-to, as well as other diamond-shaped mullion windows.
