Description
The stables north of Scole Lodge Nursing Home are an early 19th-century red brick building featuring a low pitched hipped slate roof and two storeys. The first floor has five 2-light casement windows with glazing bars, each topped with flat rubbed brick arches. On the ground floor, there are three segmental arched carriage doorways with boarded doors, along with doorways at each end that have rectangular fanlights and flush-panelled doors. A central clock tower is adorned with thin Tuscan columns at the corners, supporting an entablature with a modillion cornice and a cupola above, which is flanked by six fluted columns. At both ends, the building has single-storey wings with hipped slate roofs, each consisting of three bays with a central doorway.
