Description
The Church of All Saints in Thorpe Abbotts is a Grade I listed building dating from the 13th century. The structure features a nave and chancel, with an early 13th-century north doorway and an early 14th-century south doorway, alongside Perpendicular style south windows. The chancel includes a blocked north lancet from the 13th century. The round west tower, likely from the 13th century, has a 15th-century octagonal top stage made of flint and brick, featuring four bell windows alternating with four blind windows.
An early 16th-century south porch is constructed of brick, with diagonal buttresses, a moulded brick double-chamfered arch, and two-light side windows. Inside, there is a Perpendicular octagonal font adorned with four lions on the stem and angels along with the signs of the Evangelists on the bowl. A tall, traceried screen from the 15th century can also be found, along with panelling in the chancel that is likely from the early 18th century. The building is primarily made of flint with stone dressings and has tiled roofs.
