Description

These are a group of houses dating to the 18th century, with a 19th-century extension. The original date of 1687 is recorded on stone that has since been removed. The houses are constructed of red brick, with No. 104 rendered. They have a pantile roof, while the extension has a slate roof. The white brick extension was built at a right angle to No. 102. The building presents six bays plus a single-bay extension. A door is located to the left, featuring a raised panelled surround and a small flat hood. The right-hand door is off-centre, with slim panelled pilasters, a heavy keystone and consoles supporting a pediment. A carriage arch is situated at the extreme right. Throughout the building are sash windows with rubbed brick flat arches and keystones to No. 102. A stringcourse runs between the floors on the left-hand side. A plain box cornice tops the facade. There are two dormer gables and two paired dormer gables, all incorporating casement windows, although one left-hand dormer window has been blocked. The 19th-century extension features a door in the return angle with a portico supported by square columns, and sash windows with glazing bars. The street elevation of the extension has two ground-floor blind windows and corner pilasters, finished with a paired bracket cornice and a hipped roof.
