Description
21 and 23 St John Maddermarket is a 17th-century building with a later 17th-century rear addition, which was disused at the time of the re-survey. The left-hand side of the building was part of a former public house. It has undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries and is rendered with a pantile roof. The structure stands two storeys high and features a jettied first floor. There are three widely spaced first floor windows. The pilastered pub front has plain fascia windows that are boarded up, along with a 20th-century shopfront that includes a central door to the right. The first floor has three sash windows with glazing bars, except for the right-hand bottom sash. The left-hand window includes side-lights and a box cornice is present. Additionally, there are three dormer gables, featuring one casement window and two sash windows.
