Description

No. 8 St Andrew's Hill is an 18th-century shop constructed of red brick on a flint plinth with stone capping and end quoins. The building has three storeys and five bays. It features a central door with a moulded surround and a flat hood. There is a yard entry at the extreme right, which includes a medieval timber door surround with carved spandrels and tracery above a rectangular fanlight. The ground floor has 20th-century casement windows, while the first floor has sash windows with glazing bars and rubbed brick flat arches. The second floor also has casement windows, and there are blind windows in the central bay. A bracket cornice completes the design. Notably, the timber door surround is listed as an Ancient Monument.
