Description
Church Farmhouse is a house dating from 1681, as indicated by a datestone inscribed "1681 WSD" on the south gable. The house is constructed of flint with brick dressings, some parts of which have been rendered. It has a thatched roof. The building is rectangular in plan, with two additional ranges extending to the rear. The front facade is rendered and comprises four bays, with two storeys. It features 3-light windows from the 19th century with diamond-leaded panes, each with a hood mould above. A doorway from the 18th century is located in the third bay, featuring a flat hood supported by consoles, and a 19th-century door. The gables are kneelered. The house has an axial stack positioned off-centre, and a gable end stack on the right-hand side, both featuring clustered polygonal shafts. The left-hand gable wall contains two blocked windows on the first floor, a platband, and a large opening to the attic with brick reveals, which is now partly blocked. The house is also known as Toad House.
