Description
The Village Hall, located on North Lane in Thursford Green, is a former village school that was originally a farmhouse. It dates back to the 17th century but features details from the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of flint with brick dressings, while the south wall is made of red brick and topped with red and black glazed pantiles.
This two-storey structure is designed as a single-storey hall. The west gable includes a blocked 17th-century two-light central mullion brick window, alongside a large 19th-century three-light wooden framed window with mullions and a transom. There is also a 19th-century lancet window in the gable, featuring barge boards. The north front has blocked rectangular brick-dressed windows from the 17th century on both the ground and first floors, as well as two 19th-century porches with lean-to roofs and Gothic brick arched doors. The south wall has four mid-19th-century two-light casement windows.
Inside, there is a mid-19th-century stone fireplace adorned with quatrefoil paterae. The building is included for its group value on the Village Green.
