Description

This is an early 17th-century cottage located on the east side of Langham Road in Field Dalling. The cottage is built of English bond brick, with a pantile roof. It has a three-cell plan and a single-storey facade with an attic. The front has three bays, with a central gabled brick porch featuring sawtooth brick dentils. To the right of the porch is a small stair light with moulded brick reveals and a hood mould. To the left of the porch is a three-light mullioned window with leaded panes and timber mullions, topped by a moulded brick pediment. To the right of the porch is a two-light mullioned window with a similar pediment. A brick dentil eaves cornice runs along the top of the facade. There are two attic casements. Gable end stacks are present, with the right-hand stack corbelled out, the shaft rebuilt, and incorporating two small leaded attic lights with hood moulds. At the rear, there is a 20th-century casement in an earlier opening with a hood mould, a 19th-century window, and a further attic casement. Inside, a chamfered bressimer beam displays lambs-tongue stops and nicks. The roof is of the 18th century, featuring staggered chamfered purlins. Two attic lights have since been blocked.
