Description
Jex's Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with later details. It is constructed of flint and brick, with a black glazed pantiled roof and whitewashed flint and brick. The central brick section may have replaced an earlier structure between the flint and brick end bays. On the ground floor, there are two late 19th century tripartite plate glass sashes, one sash with glazing bars, and two 20th century doors, all set under brick arches. The first floor features three sashes with glazing bars and one plate glass sash. There are purlin irons and a brick plat-band at the first floor, along with brick heightening courses and a dentil eaves cornice. The roof is steeply pitched, with mid-19th century end gables made of flint and brick, featuring coped parapets and end stacks, as well as an off-centre mid-19th century stack. The interior includes chamfered and stopped spine beams on the north and south sides, with a stopped and chamfered cross beam at the centre of the house on both the ground and first floors. There is also a single-storey brick range with red pantiles attached at the north, included for group value.
