Description

Stonegate Farmhouse is an early 17th-century house located on Egmere Road in Little Walsingham. The building is constructed of flint with a partly plastered front and brick end walls, topped by a steep pantile roof featuring Dutch gable ends. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has six windows, primarily restored sashes without glazing bars set in moulded architraves.

To the right of the center, there is a 17th-century five-light stone window with ovolo moulded mullions and a transom, also in a moulded architrave. On the left side, a late 19th-century splayed bay window consists of sashes without glazing bars. The central entrance features an 18th or 19th-century flush panelled door within a moulded doorcase, accompanied by a porch with an entablature supported by slim columns and a sloping roof.

The house has three brick chimney stacks along the ridge and a staircase tower at the center of the rear, which is two storeys high with a Dutch gable and a later lean-to addition. Inside, the staircase tower contains a notable 17th-century dog-leg staircase with a moulded string, heavy turned balusters, square newels with moulded finials, and a moulded handrail. The ground floor rooms are characterized by chamfered beams and an ovolo moulded beam, while a lofty ground floor room at the north end features an early 18th-century modillion cornice.
