Description

Bank Cottage, Bank Cottages, and Bank House are a terrace of three cottages located on High Street in Cley Next the Sea. The cottages feature a late 18th century facade that covers an older core. The exterior is rendered and color-washed, with a roof of pantiles and a raised gable parapet. The building is a double range with three bays and two storeys.

The windows are sashes with glazing bars; the first-floor windows and the ground-floor window on the right have four panes by four panes, while the center and right ground-floor windows are set under segmental heads. There is a late 20th-century glazed door inserted into the middle bay, while the left and right bays have wooden porches with fretwork on the upper sides and concave painted lead canopies. Each of these bays features six-panelled doors with the upper panels glazed.

To the right gable, there is a very large external stack that is part rendered, part coursed flint, and part brick. The left gable has a stack against the adjacent house. The rear range of the building has two storeys and four irregular bays, showcasing a varied treatment of flint and brick with vertical brick joints. The fourth bay has a gable, and the fenestration is varied and scattered, including a 16-pane sash with glazing bars in the ground-floor bay three and horizontal sliding flush sashes in the first-floor bays one and two.
