Description

The Star Inn is a late 17th-century public house situated on Oak Street, Fakenham. It is constructed of painted flint, cobble, and brick, with a steeply pitched black-glazed pantile roof featuring Dutch gable ends. The roofline has brick dentil eaves. The building is two storeys high with an attic, displaying three windows on the front elevation. These are large sash windows with glazing bars set within exposed cases. A central, projecting two-story painted brick porch features a moulded brick stringcourse. The first floor of the porch has a sash window with glazing bars, while the ground floor entrance is round-headed with a keyblock and impost, flanked by smaller round-headed windows. Brick chimney stacks are positioned at each end of the building. Inside, a ground-floor room features fielded panelling, a round-headed arch with fluted Ionic pilasters, and cupboards with round-headed fielded-panel doors and keyblocks.
