Description
21 Oak Street is an early 18th-century building that was formerly known as The Rectory. It is constructed of red brick with a stuccoed front featuring quoins. The building has a steep slated roof with coped gable ends and a heavy modillion eaves cornice. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has five windows, all of which are sashes with glazing bars. The right-hand doorway is framed by a pilastered case with an entablature and has a blocked rectangular fanlight above, with a later glazed door. There are two flat-roofed dormers with cornices and casements. The building also has end brick chimney stacks. The left and right-hand returns, which are the north and south ends, feature projecting two-storey bays with hipped roofs and modillion cornices. The south end has a three-light sash on each floor with glazing bars, while the north end has sashes with glazing bars, some of which are blocked.
