Description

Banningham War Memorial is located in the churchyard of St Botolph’s on Colby Road in Banningham. It is prominently positioned in the churchyard, making it visible from the road through the village near the north-east corner of the church. The memorial features a foliate Latin cross set on a moulded plinth with a three-stepped base, where the upper two steps have an upper lip. The plinth and upper step have incised inscriptions.

The inscription on the plinth reads: 1914 – 1919. Below this, on the upper step, it states: TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF THE MEN OF BANNINGHAM WHO FELL IN THE WAR. On the left side of the upper step are four names of First World War soldiers (A-N), and on the right side are four more names (P-S).
