Description

The Old Farm House, formerly known as Eagle Farm House and shown on Ordnance Survey maps as Erpingham Lodge Farm, dates to 1680. It is constructed of flint, brick, with some painted areas, and has a black glazed pantile roof. The building is rectangular in plan and has a front of four bays, two storeys high and painted. The first bay is flint with brick diaperwork; the remaining bays are brick. A flint plinth is present. The front door is located in the third bay and is topped by a flat hood supported on brackets. The ground-floor windows are C20 leaded casements, set beneath segmental arches. A brick dentil eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. The gables are kneelered. Three attic dormers are visible. Interior gable end stacks and one off-centre axial stack are present. The left-hand gable is of flint with brick diaperwork, and has brick reveals and hood moulds over six openings; the ground-floor openings have C20 glazing, while two first-floor and two attic openings are blocked and retain oak frames. The date 1680 is inscribed in brick to the gable. Eaves were raised at a later date. Inside, a ground-floor room features cross beams with jewel stops.
