Description

A row of three cottages dating from the late 19th century, located on The Street in West Raynham. The cottages are built of flint with brick dressings, and have fish-scale tiled roofs. The row is four bays wide, with two central gabled wings. The central section features two ground-floor bay windows with four central panes and smaller canted panes, all with fixed casements and horizontal glazing bars, set within brick dressings and topped with fish-scale tiled roofs. The outer bays have single ground and first-floor tripartite fixed wooden casements with horizontal glazing bars, positioned under cambered brick arches. The central bays contain square-headed first-floor windows with three panes. A central entrance door, which is part-glazed, was added in the 20th century. The cottages feature wooden eaves and bargeboard gables to the central and end bays. Brick quoins and dressings are used throughout the structure, and there are two brick stacks positioned off-centre. The cottages are notable as an example of mid to late 19th century housing built for the Raynham Estate, and have group value with the nearby Post Office.
