Description
Raynham Old Hall is a gatehouse dating from the 16th century. It is constructed of brick and features red and black pantiled roofs. The building has two storeys and two bay returns. There are blocked pedestrian and carriage entrances on the north side, both with brick drip-moulds. The gable has been cut down and includes a brick string course base, along with a now damaged decorative field made of flint and brick, which displays three moulded brick lozenge shields. The tiles are arranged in lozenges with dividing panels of brick set vertically. The south return has brick buttresses and a blocked pedestrian arch, while the north return has a similar blocked arch but lacks buttresses and features a low pitched roof. Attached at the rear is a two-storey cottage made of flint and brick, topped with a steeply pitched red pantiled roof, which clearly incorporates fragments of Raynham Old Hall.
