Description

Rose Cottage is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century, but incorporating an earlier core. It is constructed of red brick with some grey brick dressings, and has a black glazed pantile roof. The house is three bays wide and two storeys high. The ground floor has two 20th-century casement windows, while the first floor has three sash windows with glazing bars, set in flush wooden frames. There are narrow, brick-moulded aprons below the two outer first-floor windows. A central door has a plain wooden surround and a narrow hood, and features a five-panel door, partially glazed. Moulded brick eaves run along the top of the house. The upper courses of grey brick are visible on the first floor, and the west gable shows evidence of the 17th century with brick lozenges and a full round-headed window. The gables have coped parapets, and there are end stacks. An outshut rear extension is present.
