Description
1-4 The Crescent is an early 19th-century terrace with a convex curved front that faces the sea. The building is constructed of yellow brick and features a slate roof with bracketed eaves. It has three storeys and an attic, with a total of eleven windows. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, most of which have been restored. There is a later balcony on the first floor with a wooden balustrade, and on the ground floor, there are four large splayed bays of sashes that are also later additions. The doorways are segmental headed and recessed, each with segmental fanlights; No. 4 has circular tracery. Nos. 1, 2, and 4 retain their original flush-panel doors, while No. 3 has a modern door. The building also features eight later flat-roofed dormers. The Crescent and Brunswick House in The Gangway form a group, with Tuckers Hotel, No. 5, and The Crescent being of local interest only.
