Description

Manor House is a 16th-century house located on Norwich Road in Corpusty, with an attached garden wall to the south. The building is constructed of brick and flint, topped with a pantiled roof. It features a single range of three bays, with the left-hand bay being an early 17th-century addition. At the rear, there is a continuous two-storey addition from the 19th century.

The house stands two storeys high, with the central and right-hand bays made of flint with brick dressings, while the left-hand bay is of brick. The late 19th-century windows are three-light casements, and those on the ground floor include transoms. There is a blocked window on the first floor to the right of the right-hand bay.

A prominent two-storey gabled porch is located between the centre and right-hand bays. This porch is made of brick and has a pantile roof, featuring clasping polygonal buttresses with onion-shaped stone finials. It has a four-centred brick arch with a brick dripstone and a pointed first-floor window with a single vertical glazing bar. The right-hand gable is made of brick with diaper work, and it has a flint plinth with a moulded brick cap. The left-hand gable is finished in black colourwash. The right gable end has polygonal shafts for the internal stack, while the stack between the left and centre bays has four linked polygonal shafts.

Inside, there is a newel staircase with a brick vault behind the internal right-hand gable stack. The centre and right-hand bays feature stop-chamfered beams with ogee stops, and the ceiling joists on the second storey have roll mouldings. The principal beams in the left-hand bay have ovolo mouldings. The attached garden wall is made of flint with brick quoins and coping, and it has an off-set flint plinth with a brick cap.
